CCD Mission Statement 12/22/07
Cuban Committee For Democracy
The CCD has set for itself the following four goals:
1.
Bring together and represent the centrist, moderate
orientation toward Cuba among Cuban-Americans and
support like-minded ideas and organizations in the
island.
2.
Facilitate dialogue among Cuban and U.S. government
officials with representatives of civil society in order
to bring about a peaceful transition toward democracy in
Cuba.
3.
Support progressive political forces in the United
States that seek the lifting of the trade embargo
against Cuba as the best means to accelerate the
transition toward democracy in our nation.
4.
Educate Cuban and Cuban-Americans in the practice of
democracy through respectful dialogue, negotiation, free
expression of ideas and observance of electoral rules.
The Cuban Committee For Democracy was founded in 1993 by
a group of progressive Cuban–Americans in Miami and
Washington, D.C. The CCD has been in continuing
existence, since then, defending these ideas and
representing them before national and international
audiences. The Committee is non-partisan and welcomes
members and supporters from any political current or
party who adhere to these principles |
